Banning Taxpayer-Funded Lobbying – #SupportTheBan

Do You Really Believe Lobbyists in Austin Represent the Best Interests of Your Community?

For years, local municipalities in Texas have employed associations, using your tax dollars, to provide various services. Included in those services is lobbying your State Legislature, often in opposition to policies you want advanced.

THE BIG LOBBYIST LIE: Any lobbyist or municipal leader who says that rural communities will be disadvantaged without a lobbyist are lying to you. The fact is the largest cities in Texas already control the policy—so let’s ban lobbyists and even the playing field.

With YOUR help we can BAN TAXPAYER FUNDED LOBBYING!

Representative Mayes Middleton’s legislation, House Bill 749 (HB749), does just that!

HB749 was heard in the House State Affairs committee on March 26th, 2 weeks ago. It is still pending a favorable vote from the committee.

Now YOU can give the committee members some encouragement to vote HB749 out of committee and to the floor for a vote.

We are changing the Rules of Engagement!

Grassroots Gold is pleased to promote a new tool, HeadsUp, created by grassroots advocate Brent Dunklau.

With just a couple of clicks on your phone/mobile device/computer, you and up to two other friends can record a short video, advocating your support for House Bill 749, and then send that video directly to your legislators, or committee members.

PLEASE SHARE THAT VIDEO ON SOCIAL MEDIA AND TAG THE LEGISLATORS with #SupportTheBan!

Grassroots Gold Sends Video to House State Affairs Committee!

Brent joined Grassroots Gold Facebook live, on April 8, to discuss this tool, and how YOU can use it to change the way YOU advocate.

You can use this tool for any legislation you want to champion.

Click here (and share) for more help with HeadsUp.

Lobbyists have “rigged” the playing field against you—now let’s fight back!

Today marks the day the ‘we the people of Texas’ change the rules!

February 2019, Grassroots Gold Co-Founders Paul Hodson and Tamara Colbert met Lubbock County Commissioners Chad Seay (Far Left) and Jason Corley (Far Right), and Plano City Councilman Shelby Williams (2nd from Left) at the Capitol to advocate in support of HB2, the Property Tax Reform legislation. We had to wait our turn as lobbyists for multiple associations, funded by us (the taxpayers), testified in opposition to HB2 and Property Tax Reform.
