Texas State House District 118 (Bexar County) has been a bit of a revolving door the last 5 years.

John Lujan (R-San Antonio) won the Special Election held on November 2, 2021, defeating Democrat challenger Frank Ramirez.

Final results:

Lujan - 5,924 (51.24%)

Ramirez - 5,638 (48.76%)

Lujan regains a seat he originally held briefly after winning a special election in early 2016, after Democrat Joe Farias departed.

Lujan then lost to Democrat Tomas Uresti in the 2016 regular election. Uresti was then defeated in 2018 by Democrat Leo Pacheco.

Lujan is now completing the term that Pacheco held until he announced his retirement to pursue an academic career.

So, since 2015 HD 118 has been held by 3 Democrats (Farias, Uresti, Pacheco) and twice by Republican Lujan.

5th Circuit Grants TPPF's Emergency Motion to Stay the Latest Employer Vaccine Mandate

On Thursday, November 4th, the Biden administration released the much anticipated vaccination policies regarding employer vaccine mandates.

Without missing a beat, multiple employers and states sued the Biden administration (including Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton).

Our friends at Texas Public Policy Foundation (TPPF) filed their own motion "to stay enforcement of the Biden Administration’s private employer vaccine mandate."

Just two days later, on Saturday, November 6th, the United States Fifth Circuit Court of Appeal granted TPPF's request for a stay, citing, among other reasons, “grave statutory and constitutional issues with the Mandate.”

We're all going to need BINGO cards to follow the number of vaccine mandate Executive Orders and regulations, plus the lawsuits filed to restrain and eventually void the lawsuits and regulations.

On October 15, Liberty Council filed a class action lawsuit "on behalf of members from all five branches of the military -- Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines, and Coast Guard -- federal employees and federal civilian contractors, who have been unlawfully mandated to get the COVID shots or face dishonorable discharge from the military or termination from employment."

They also filed a motion for a temporary restraining order and injunction. The preliminary injunction hearing will be on Monday, November 15 at 9 a.m., in the Middle District Court of Florida.
